Danit’s a pint-sized powerhouse of a singer-songwriter with acoustic guitar chops to burn!
— Joshua Bennett - Musician, Carbon 40

Growing up under the sunny skies of Los Angeles, Danit was born into a family with a long history of music appreciation and expression. On the turntable and the radio her father played classical, jazz, blues, and musical theater scores. Both parents and her sister played classical piano and sang folk songs. Her maternal grandfather was a well-loved music copyright attorney. His clients, musicians and composers, would come over to her grandparents’ house and play their songs on the black Baldwin piano in the living room.

From an early age, Danit had a finely tuned musical ear. Her frequent outings to symphony and musical theater productions helped develop her ability to pick out individual instrument “voices” from an orchestra or band.

Danit began piano lessons at eight, learned violin and guitar at ten and sang in the high school choir. She studied voice in college where she sang everything from opera to pop, the former as part of her classwork and the latter while playing in several cover bands. She made extra income doing recording session work as a vocalist and flautist for small local studios.

Danit was introduced to her best instrument, the guitar, shortly after she started playing the violin. Her father had bought an old Sears Silvertone guitar from the local paper, but it sat unused in the corner for nearly a year. One day, she picked it up, opened the chord book…and the magic began. She sat at the piano for hours with the guitar endeavoring to apply what she knew from piano and violin. She quickly learned the chords for songs she already knew and began arranging songs from the radio for guitar.

Danit was able to turn her love of performing into a successful music career, and she toured professionally with cover bands full-time for four years.

She also worked for sound contractors and elite audio system designers where she was able to apply her knowledge of sound and audio. When the construction industry took a downturn, she went back to school and started a rewarding career in medicine.

After suffering a neck and hand injury in a serious accident, Danit took a long hiatus from music. A successful surgery eventually repaired the damage, and she slowly gained back her dexterity and strength. In 2012 there was a death in her family, which pushed her to seek solace and peace in the music she so loves.

In 2013, Danit played a cover song in her first open mic performance in 20 years. A friend heard Danit’s original music and suggested that she attend the monthly West Coast Songwriter’s Competition and showcase to hone her songwriting skills.

Currently she performs as a solo artist in the Pacific Northwest and mentors other performers. She volunteers with Soldier Songs and Voices, a non-profit for veterans, teaching them songwriting, voice and performing skills. She also works as a sound engineer for Artichoke Music, a true acoustic listening room for live performances.

Later this year, she plans to begin work on an LP and form a full band for performance and recording.

Danit's smoky, soulful vocals dig deeply, yet can soar with a clear bell-like tone. Her diversity of style reflects her grounding in rock, jazz, R&B, folk and international music. Her guitar work is unique, skillful and evocative, and will transform you as you take in her songs of love, life and the human condition.
